The Northam Recovery Program
The Northam Recovery Program is a 26 week, fully accredited Residential Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation and Social Enterprise Program.
Our Recovery Model
The Northam Recovery Program operates on a modified Therapeutic Community model of treatment. The staff and other residents at the centre become your community for the period of your recovery and you all work together towards overcoming your addictions, building supportive relationships and preparing for re-entry to the wider community.
Northam Recovery Centre
The Northam Recovery Centre is where residents will commence their recovery journey. The facility is a 3 storey centre with sleeping quarters, common areas with TV, garden area and vegetable patch. There is also a range of art supplies provided for residents who want to explore and develop their creative talents.
Residents are also able to use the gym and other sporting and educational facilities in Northam during designated program times.
Each resident is allocated their own bedroom with a bed and storage for personal belongings. All rooms have both air-conditioners and heaters. Linen will also be provided for the duration of your stay. All meals are prepared and delivered fresh daily.
The program runs on a structured timetable with groups, free time, meals and chores. Maintenance of the property is an important part of the program. All residents help with normal household tasks including cooking, cleaning, gardening and general maintenance.
Residents are encouraged to invite their families to visit them on Family Day which is held on the last Saturday of each month at our second facility, The Hill.
The Hill is 8 km outside of Northam on an expansive 85 acre rural property. Once the residents have completed their program at the Northam Recovery Centre they have the opportunity to graduate to The Hill to complete the work readiness program.
At The Hill the residents will benefit from a country lifestyle, learning practical skills with a strong emphasis on returning to work. Residents living at The Hill will also have an active role in our Social Enterprises.
As part of our recovery program all residents will participate in our social enterprises.
Fresh Start has three Social Enterprises in Northam:
The Hill Contracting company provides high quality, expert services in gardening landscaping and reticulation.
The Hill café is run by the residents who are trained as baristas and kitchen hands. They make fresh cakes and biscuits, and prepare delicious lunch items on site. We are proudly supported by the Wheatbelt Health Network.
The Hill Catering Company name and logo were both designed by program participants. We train and equip men in our program with skills and work experience that will offer them long term employment options, as well as much needed support with reintegration back into the wider community.
The Hill Catering company regularly caters for a large number of local organizations including government departments. We offer a range of different menus to suit any event.
