Fresh Start staff were very pleased to recently attend a group training session presented by The Alcohol, Other Drug and Prevention Services – Mental Health Commission. The session was presented by trainers Grace Oh and Leigh Cleary who delivered a highly informative and engaging Naloxone and Overdose Awareness Training. The training highlighted the risks and dangers of combining opioids and other sedative type substances e.g. alcohol and benzodiazepines, and showed the staff how to respond to overdose situations using the Naloxone treatment. The staff were very enthusiastic about the presentation and expressed their appreciation for the excellent training they received from Grace and Leigh. They now feel confident about using this treatment. Naloxone kits are kept in the Subiaco Clinic, in the York Street Office and in both of the York Street vehicles and are available for trained staff to administer.
