National Volunteer Week is a great opportunity for the staff to show their appreciation for the wonderful people who give their time and energy to Fresh Start.

Being generous and selfless human beings, our volunteers can find being the centre of attention a bit uncomfortable, but we wrangled them along to a morning tea to show we care!

One of our vollies, who didn’t want to be named, said they do not expect to be thanked or rewarded but volunteer to give back to the community and because they genuinely want to contribute to the care of our patients and clients.  This was very evident in their reluctance to be in the photo!

Our Volunteer Manager Judy thanked everyone for their dedication and was in turn thanked for being so supportive and friendly and always making sure her volunteers are happy and have what they need.

We have many long-term volunteers including some who have been with us since the doors opened as the Perth Naltrexone Clinic in 1997. There have been a lot of changes since then, but what hasn’t changed is the empathy and care the volunteers display even under challenging and stressful circumstances.

We know you don’t like the attention but THANK YOU all  – we really, really could not do it without you.

A special thanks to Toni who, in true volunteer spirit, made a mouthwatering cake for everyone.
