Following an identified need for support for men with a history of AOD usage exiting custody, Fresh Start began accepting assessed participants directly from prison into the Northam residential rehab program. The very high success rate is a testament to the excellent care they receive from the Northam staff and volunteers and the effectiveness of the recovery program tailored to their needs.

These men are often in a vulnerable position, with lack of secure housing, employment or support systems. Participants are released from custody directly into the care of Fresh Start, minimising the chance of relapse upon release which is an identified danger period for AOD users.
